Stories of Salvation was inspired by God. I really believe that the Holy Spirit has led me to create this site. If everyone knew that we are more alike than different than life would be easier.  Everybody has pretty much the same story, just different ways of getting to the ending.

Feel free to contact me by email or just writing an old fashion letter. I could really use your inspiration and encouragement.

Derek

Hello, My name is Derek. I am married to a wonderful woman that God has directed to me. We have 7 children. One son and six daughters. Our son is the oldest and is a sophmore in college. I live in a small town of 800 people named Redfield located in Iowa. I have a small painting company which is actually coming to an end. Hopefully another door will open up soon.

I consider myself a new believer even though I was saved around December of 2000. I am just a child in God's eyes as well as all. I have been pushed from an outside force since I was Baptised in November of 2007. I was so nervous so my testimony was short and did not make any sense. So this outside force, I will call it the Holy Spirit, has been weighing very heavily on my heart and mind to talk about stories of salvation. I have been led to believe I need to write my testimony down and share with the world especially with non believers. Not only my story but others as well. Please join me by sharing yours.

God Bless all of you

Derek

Salvation Ministries

Statement of Faith

The following are the fundamental beliefs of Stories of Salvation.  We are fully committed to following and establishing correct doctrine according to the word of God.  While we believe in establishing correct doctrine, we are also committed to establishing unity in the Body of Christ.  Although there are some basic Christian doctrines that cannot be compromised, we believe in extending liberty to others on secondary, nonessential beliefs.  We recognize that secondary beliefs among the Body of Christ vary widely, and we are committed to unity among fellow Christians who do not believe exactly as we do.  Disputes over secondary doctrines have possibly caused more damage and division within the Body of Christ than any other issue.  We believe that unity can be greatly strengthened by agreeing on the essentials and extending liberty to others concerning secondary doctrines.

1.  We believe that there is only one true God, Who is the Creator and Sustainer of all things.  He exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe the three members of the Godhead are equal in deity, power, and glory (Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 43:10-11, Matthew 28:19, Luke 3:22, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Colossians 1:12-20, Hebrews 1:1-12, Revelation 1:4-6).

2.  We believe the sixty-six books of the Bible, in their original form, are the complete and infallible word of God.  We believe that they are inspired by the Holy Spirit and are the final authority for the Christian life (Matthew 5:18, John 10:35 and 17:17, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:19-21).

3.  We believe in the deity, virgin birth, and sinless life of Jesus Christ.  We believe that He is the only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin.  We believe that the preincarnate Christ existed with God in the beginning, and that all things were created through Him and for Him.  We believe that Jesus is the delight of the Father and the personification of His nature and character.  He is the living Word, both fully God and fully man.  We believe that Jesus Christ died as a sacrifice for the sins of the human race and was physically resurrected three days after His death.  He is seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven until His physical return to establish the kingdom of God on the earth (Matthew 1:18-25; Luke 1:30-35; John 1:1-18 and 3:13-18; Romans 8:32-34; Colossians 1:13-20; Hebrews 1:1-12; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8; 1 Peter 2:21-24; Revelation 19:11-16, 20:4, and 21).

4.  We believe that man was originally created in the image of God without the knowledge of good or evil.  We believe that Adam and Eve, the first man and woman, fell into sin through disobedience.  We believe this sin caused Adam and Eve, as well as all of their descendants, to fall from their right standing relationship with God.  We believe this single act of disobedience allowed evil, sickness, death, and judgment to enter the human race and the world.  We believe this single act of disobedience caused man, apart from redemption, to be rightfully and eternally separated from God.   Because of this all are born into sin and fall short of the glory of God.  We believe that apart from the atonement made available through Jesus Christ, sinful man cannot approach a holy God and will spend eternity separated from Him in the lake of fire originally prepared and intended for Satan and his angels (Genesis 1:26-27, 2:17, 2:25, and 3:6-24; Romans 2:12, 3:23, and 5:12-19; Revelation 20:12-15).

5.  We believe that every person can be restored to a right standing relationship with God and receive eternal life through the sacrificial death and atonement of Jesus Christ alone.  We believe that salvation is only available by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.  We believe that the acceptance of the propitiatory sacrifice of Christ Jesus, the mediator between God and man, is the only way an individual can be reconciled to God (John 3:3, 14:6; Romans 3:21-26; Ephesians 2:8; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; Titus 3:5-7; Revelation 20:12-15).

6.  We believe that it is “with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation” (Rom. 10:10).  We believe that the prayer of salvation must be coupled with faith in one’s heart, which results in righteousness.  Believing at the heart level results in true, heartfelt repentance and a life-long commitment to servitude and holiness as we submit to the Lordship of Christ (Luke 24:47, Romans 10:8-10, Ephesians 4:17-24, Titus 2:11-14, 2 Peter 1:3-4).

7.  We believe that the Holy Spirit’s interaction with man is authenticated through the fruit and gifts of the Spirit.  The Holy Spirit sanctifies and empowers the believer to live a life holy and acceptable before God.  We believe that Jesus baptizes in the Holy Spirit to empower the believer to be a witness and minister to others supernaturally through signs and wonders.  We believe that the gifts of the Spirit such as speaking in tongues and prophecy often follow the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.  This is to be distinguished from being filled with the Holy Spirit, but is an additional impartation which empowers the believer for ministry.  We believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit as described in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 are still given today for the building up of the Church and for the common good of the believer  (John 1:33, 14:16-17; Acts 1:4-8, 2:2-4, 4:29-31, 8:15-17, 13:52, and 19:1-6; 1 Corinthians 12-14; Galatians 5:22-23; Hebrews 2:3-4).

8.  We believe the Church is honored and obligated to fulfill the Great Commission and expand God’s Kingdom on the earth as it is in heaven.  We believe that in order to fulfill the Great Commission, we must first fulfill the great commandment, which is to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind” (Matt. 22:37).  We believe that keeping this commandment first allows us to better fulfill the second commandment, which is to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Matt. 22:39).  We believe that one of the expressions of loving our neighbor is through fulfilling the Great Commission and bringing the lost to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We believe the Church is called to disciple nations and bring the atmosphere of heaven into every arena of life, including the marketplace, medicine, media, music, academics, athletics and the arts (Matthew 6:10, 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 1:8).

9.  We believe that the five-fold ministry has existed since the first century and will continue to exist “until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ” (Eph. 4:13).  Because the Church at large is yet to attain unity, maturity, or the fullness of Christ, we believe the five ministries of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers described in Ephesians 4:11-13 are necessary for the building up of the Body of Christ today until she reaches this standard.

10.  We believe that the Church is to keep the Lord’s Supper and the ordinance of water baptism until the return of Christ.  We believe that the Lord’s Supper is to be done in remembrance of Him and as a testimony of the new covenant, His death, and Second Coming. We believe that water baptism through immersion is intended to immediately follow one’s commitment to Christ as a public declaration of faith and lifelong commitment to Christ (Matthew 26:26-29, 28:19-20; Mark 14:22-25, 16:16; Luke 22:14-20; Acts 10:47-48; Romans 6:4; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

11.  We believe in a literal, physical resurrection for all mankind for judgment.  Those who have been justified through faith in Christ will be resurrected to eternal life.  All who have not received Christ as Savior will spend eternity separated from God in the lake of fire (Matthew 25:46; Mark 9:42-49; John 5:24-29; Romans 2:5-11; Revelation 19:20, 20:11-15, and 21:7-8).

12.  We believe that Satan, once one of God’s angels, led one third of the angels of heaven in a rebellion against God.  We believe Satan and his rebellious angels were cast out of heaven as a result of their rebellion.  Satan, called the prince of the power of the air, is now at work with these fallen angels in an attempt to establish his counterfeit kingdom of darkness.  Although the world currently lies in the power of the evil one (1 John 5:19), Satan and his demonic army were defeated at the cross of Christ and will ultimately suffer everlasting torment in the lake of fire (Isaiah 14:10–17; Ezekiel 28:11–19; Matthew 12:25–29, 25:41; Mark 3:22-26; John 12:31, 16:11; 2 Corinthians 11:14; Ephesians 2:1-2, 6:11-17; Colossians 1:13-14,2:15; 2 Peter 2:4; 1 John 5:19; Jude 6-9; Revelation 12:3-9, and 20:10).

13.  We believe that the Church will experience an unprecedented outpouring of the Holy Spirit at the end of the age, particularly during the Great Tribulation.  We believe that the Church will go through and overcome the difficulties of this time of great trouble.  While Scripture is clear that the Great Tribulation will be a time of persecution upon followers of Christ, we believe the Holy Spirit will empower the Church to overcome these difficulties in victory and in power.  We believe that the end of the age will be the time of the greatest harvest of souls the world has ever known as the Holy Spirit empowers the Church to evangelize the lost and disciple the nations.  We believe that this will be the time in which the Church will perform greater works than Jesus did as the Gospel is preached with unprecedented signs and wonders confirming the preaching of God’s word.  We believe that the Church will be raptured at the end of the Great Tribulation at the last trumpet, after which we will always be with the Lord (Daniel 7:25; Joel 2:28-32; Matthew 24:9-14, 24:21, and 24:29-31; John 14:12; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Revelation 7:9-14 and 14:14-16).

14.  We believe that Christ will physically return to the earth at the end of the age to establish His Kingdom for a period of one thousand years.  Following the millennial reign, we believe that God will establish a new heaven and a new earth upon which He will establish His eternal kingdom.  God will make His habitation among men, reigning in righteousness and justice.  He will make all things new, and there will no longer be any death, mourning, crying, or pain.  We believe the beauty of the new heaven and new earth are beyond human ability to comprehend, for “eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him”  (1 Corinthians 2:9, 2 Peter 3:13, Revelation 20:1-6, Revelation 21, and Revelation 22).
